Spring Term Highlights

Second class have been very busy this term.  To start it off we moved into our fantastic new building where the children settled in brilliantly. We have learned lots of new things about animals and conservation as part of our Rainforest topic. As part of the Titanic topic we investigated how various objects sink and float and also explored the key events of the Titanic disaster. We have used apps such as Greenscreen and Newsbooth to create fantastic videos as part of our newspaper writing in English. And part of measure in maths the children have investigated various objects around their homes and what they weigh or what volume of liquid they hold. As well this,  the children have started playing violin again and have learned all about diversity and belonging as part of our GMGY programme. I can’t wait to see what next term brings. Well done everybody Here is a video showing some highlights of the three months. Spring Term from Eoin Flood on...

Super Symmetry

For Maths week  last week in Second class we were learning all about symmetry. Over the week, the class  learned what symmetry was,  found every day objects that were symmetrical, designed patterns that had a least one line of symmetry and also examined symmetry in nature. We also used some fantastic apps on the iPads to carry out our work including Geoboard, Book Creator, Kahoot and Nearpod. We even had some of the parents kindly come in and volunteer with some of the groups. It was a brilliant week and the some of the work produced was excellent.   Well done everyone!   Múinteoir  Eoin...
